Talent Strategy & Recruitment

The President of Excel Construction, a South Florida commercial construction company was looking to expand & diversify their business. The company had doubled revenue in last four years, however the President, a self-described “micro-manager,” knew that to continue growing revenue, margin and market share at that pace would require more dedicated time out of the office to drive business development and that achieving this objective would require the build-out of a senior leadership team.


With the absence of an HR leader, Nivalmi Talent Recruitment was called on to lead an executive talent search for a Senior Operations Manager capable of managing active construction projects, developing the team members, and building relationships to grow future business.

Nivalmi functioned as the company’s talent management team. Working with the President, Nivalmi’s talent recruiting team, Curt Nichols & Sara Valderrama interviewed key stakeholders to identify critical success characteristics. This was instrumental in the development of Candidate Persona: a critical best practice step for anyone executing a successful executive talent placement. In the end, Nivalmi Talent Recruitment was able to:

  • Implement & activate a comprehensive talent search strategy and hiring process.

  • Author 1st & 2nd interviews questions designed to help identify “best match” candidates now and in the future.

  • Manage on-line job postings and budgets over multiple platforms.

  • Screen & review 100+ candidates, engaging directly with 35+ candidates.

  • Interview twelve candidates and refer a slate of 3 candidates.


Nivalmi Talent Recruitment was successful in placing a Senior Operations Manager in 64 days. Since starting the Senior Operations manager was promoted to Vice President of Operations and is described as a “rock star” by the President.
